Bleach Combat Guide
There are two types of combat styles that are used in Bleach. Both Hollows and Shinigami use a type of sword known as a Zanpakuto. A Shinigamis Zanpakuto is comprised of the owners soul and takes the personality of the owner. On the other hand, a Hollows Zanpakuto is not formed from their soul. It is not a living piece of them, but instead just an object. Another fighting style that is used is Demon Arts. Demon art is magic which is used by a Shinigami. It comes in two forms; destructive spells, which concentrate on damaging the target, and spells which can ensnare an opponent.

Zanpakuto
A Zanpakuto is a type of sword, which in most cases looks likes a katana in its sealed form. It is used by the Shinigami as a weapon and also as a sentient being. The art of using a Zanpakuto is called Zanjutsu; meaning swordsmanship. The Zanpakuto is used in battle, and can regenerate if broken, but cannot be replaced.
